Kentucky State forrester Kent Slusher paid Sunbrook a November visit to begin planting trees. Kent has planted 30-40 trees to start and will plant more this spring when new seedlings arrive. Kent said that he will plan on a tree planting this spring during a weekday. Kent will have the Ranger here for the planting and invites all Sunbrook residents to join in reforresting our green space. Both sides of the dike will be planted with hardwood trees. In this fall planting there were a variety of hardwood deciduous trees planted including: Sugar Maple, Blue Ash, Buckeye, and Hophornbeam. The trees will provide a long lasting sanctuary for wildlife as well as other benefits. A mature plot of trees provide a wind break, noise reduction-especially from the train for the west side of Sunbrook, and from the bypass for the east side of Baybrook. The trees will also provide privacy for those who circle the green space. A stand of hardwood trees will also inrease the value and desireability for property in Sunbrook. Eventually a woodchip walking path will be added through the trees with park benches. We will have a beautifull private park in the heart of Baybrook which is for use by all residents and homeowners in Sunbrook. Thank you to Kentucky State Forrester Kent Slusher for helping us revitalize our neighborhood!
